Protect Taxpayers, Cut Waste, Fraud & Inefficiencies
Councilman Alan Lee believes our taxes are too high and our services are inefficient. There is needless duplication of services and wasteful spending of tax dollars in many cases. Councilman Lee will help streamline our City services for the benefit of our residents. We have too many local agencies duplicating services for our small community.
Tourism & Full-time Residents
Councilman Lee will ensure the city takes a more balanced approach in preserving the quality of life for our full-time residents. While year-round tourism is vital for our local economy, peace and tranquility are essential for our full-time residents. Rental companies must ensure local rules are followed and that the city provides adequate enforcement and oversight.
The City of Big Bear Lake has the highest vacation rental homes vs. full-time owner-occupied homes ratio than any other city in the state of California. There are more vacation rentals homes in the city than full-time resident-occupied homes.
Councilman Lee has stood up to the local vacation rental home operators and Airbnb, in pushing back on the oversaturation of short-term rentals. Just because we are a tourist community does not mean we forfeit our expectation of the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
Councilman Lee will make sure the City prioritize public safety to protect our community and families. Alan will ensure the City is strategic and strong in its crime-fighting efforts. Councilman Lee will ensure our Fire Department is properly managed and staffed for the benefit and safety of our community.
Keeping Big Bear Lake Beautiful
Councilman Alan Lee will advocate and invest in improving Big Bear Blvd from one end to the other. Our city's beautification plans and focus must not be limited to the village. Councilman Lee will ensure there is an investment in the unique character and atmosphere of Big Bear Lake throughout our city. He will ensure effective governmental coordination to protect our lake, wildlife, trails and forest.
Economic Development & Job Creation
Councilman Alan Lee will use his 25+ years of experience in the private and public sectors to help bring high-paying jobs to the Big Bear Valley. We cannot simply rely on the vacation rental home industry or tourism to drive our economy exclusively or create new jobs. We must diversify and expand our job opportunities to ensure a prosperous and sustaining community that will ensure our local economy thrives.
Councilman Alan Lee will ensure our road conditions are improved and maintained. Appropriate traffic control and mitigation plans will be implemented during peak tourism season to minimize disruption to residents. During the winter, snow removal will be prioritized to ensure safe roads for our community. Councilman Lee will work to improve coordination with Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol to keep Highways 18, 38 and 330 safe.
